Streets Ahead meet at 1pm on the third Thursday of each month.  The next meeting  will be the AGM at the  Coonamble Bowling Club. All welcome !   Streets Ahead are busy planning the 2007 Bush Poets Breakfast and are again assisting with the Moorambilla Festival. Text Box: ‘Out and Back Exhibition’

The Premier Morris Iemma has named his new Cabinet, which included the recommendation to the Governor of Matt Brown, MP, Member for Kiama as Minister for Tourism. Mr Brown will also hold the position of Minister for Housing in his new portfolio. Mr Brown has been a member of the NSW Parliament since 1999. Click here for the full list of new ministers.

Text Box: Sam Newstead,  the artist responsible for the design of the ‘Gulah’ logo, corrugated iron ‘galahs’ and the murals at Gulargambone is returning to hold an exhibition at two eight two eight  from 15 June 12 July.  The exhibition will also feature the work of Sonja Karl, Liz O’Reilly, and Leanne Thompson.  Titled ‘Out and Back’ the exhibition is a culimation of the journey from beach to bush, OUT of Bundeena to Gulargambone and BACK again.  It will show selected work created in Gulargambone, the Warrumbungles and from within the artists studios in Bundeena. Text Box: Tourism NSW Board member, Ruth Fagan, launched the Outback NSW Holiday Planner and campaign to the industry in Broken Hill recently. Outback NSW tourism operators and industry representatives attended the launch of this new Holiday Planner which completes the suite of seven. The Premier of NSW, Morris Iemma, announced the campaign to the media in Broken Hill in March. The release of the Planner will be supported by a television, print and publicity campaign which starts this Sunday. It includes special packages from CountryLink which will be promoted on television in Sydney and NSW for three weeks.

The official launch of the Great Inland Way Touring Route, Sydney to Cairns Inland, took place on Wednesday 28th March 2007 at QLD Parliament House and was launched by Hon Margaret Keech, QLD Minister for Tourism, Fair Trading, Wine Industry Development and Women and Hon Paul Lucas, QLD Minister for Transport and Main Roads.  The new themed Great Inland Way Touring Route has been nurtured under the Drive Tourism Program Stage 2 (DTP2), a Queensland Government funded commitment to regional Queensland to secure a share of the drive market, which contributes an estimated $4.5 billion to the State’s Economy.  The Great Inland Way travels from Sydney to Cairns Inland, through Sydney, Bathurst, Orange, Dubbo, Gilgandra, Coonamble, Walgett, Lightning Ridge, St George, Surat, Roma, Injune, Rolleston, Springsure, Emerald, Capella, Clermont, Belyando Crossing, Greenvale, Mt Garnet, Innot Hot Springs, Ravenshoe, Charters Towers, Atherton, Mareeba, Kuranda, Cairns Lakeland and Cooktown.  To see the full release click here

Text Box: The Mayor and General Manager or Campbelltown City Council will visit Coonamble Shire on 11th May to meet with Coonamble Council and the community.  Campbelltown City Council has had a sister city relationship with Coonamble since 2002.  Mayor Aaron Rule and General Manager Paul Tosi will visit Gulargambone and Coonamble to look at ways of expanding cooperation.   The visit will include a working lunch with Council and council staff and the opportunity for residents to meet the delegation. Regional Arts NSW is delighted to announce a long list of successful applications for funding from the Country Arts Support Program (CASP) for 2007. This year 148 new arts projects have got the go-ahead in regional, rural and remote NSW communities thanks to a CASP grant, and the range of activities is remarkable: There were two successful applications in Coonamble $2,000 to Coonamble Arts Alive for Life Drawing Workshops - two Weekend Workshops in life drawing working towards an exhibition 'Voluminous Lines of Sight'  and $1,600 to Coonamble Streets Ahead Committee for Songs in the Key of She - seven weekend choral workshops over seven months leading up to a performance in the Moorambilla Festival of New Australian Music.
