The Premier Morris Iemma has named his new Cabinet, which included the recommendation to the Governor of Matt Brown, MP, Member for Kiama as Minister for Tourism. The official launch of the Great Inland Way Touring Route, Sydney to Cairns Inland, took place on Wednesday 28th March 2007 at QLD Parliament House and was launched by Hon Margaret Keech, QLD Minister for Tourism, Fair Trading, Wine Industry Development and Women and Hon Paul Lucas, QLD Minister for Transport and Main Roads. The new themed Great Inland Way Touring Route has been nurtured under the Drive Tourism Program Stage 2 (DTP2), a Queensland Government funded commitment to regional Queensland to secure a share of the drive market, which contributes an estimated $4.5 billion to the State’s Economy. The Great Inland Way travels from Sydney to Cairns Inland, through Sydney, Bathurst, Orange, Dubbo, Gilgandra, Coonamble, Walgett, Lightning Ridge, St George, Surat, Roma, Injune, Rolleston, Springsure, Emerald, Capella, Clermont, Belyando Crossing, Greenvale, Mt Garnet, Innot Hot Springs, Ravenshoe, Charters Towers, Atherton, Mareeba, Kuranda, Cairns Lakeland and Cooktown. Regional Arts NSW is delighted to announce a long list of successful applications for funding from the Country Arts Support Program (CASP) for 2007. This year 148 new arts projects have got the go-ahead in regional, rural and remote NSW communities thanks to a CASP grant, and the range of activities is remarkable: There were two successful applications in Coonamble $2,000 to Coonamble Arts Alive for Life Drawing Workshops - two Weekend Workshops in life drawing working towards an exhibition 'Voluminous Lines of Sight' and $1,600 to Coonamble Streets Ahead Committee for Songs in the Key of She - seven weekend choral workshops over seven months leading up to a performance in the Moorambilla Festival of New Australian Music.
