Text Box: The Coonamble Shire Tourism newsletter is produced by  Coonamble Shire Council to involve community and industry in the development of tourism in the shire.   The Tourism Development Manager will provide the secretariat, distribute a monthly newsletter and form teams and  team leaders as required for specific projects  Forthcoming projects include a New Coonamble Maps, Coonamble Heritage Brochure, Quambone promotional material, and a new Coonamble Shire brochure.    15/7/87: REMINDER: Quambone Telephone Exchange has now gone automatic.  You DO NOT need to dial 2416 to speak to the operator
22/7/87: Coonamble Shire Council now has a General Manager instead of a Shire Clerk. Council at its July meeting formally voted to adopt corporate management and appointed Shire Clerk, Mr C Pickup as the first General Manager. 
29/7/87:  KAMAHL is coming to Coonamble.  Get your tickets now for his show on 2/8/87
30 years ago– July 1977:
6/7/77: The village of Gulargambone (pop 700) really turned it on last Saturday for the opening of the new hospital by Minister for Health, the Hon Kevin Stewart.
6/7/77:Coonamble Shire Council is calling for tenders to dispose of council vehicles which include: 3 x Valiant Sedans, 4 x Dodge Utilities, and 2 x Holden Belmont Utilities.
Tourist Brochure: The Coonamble Shire Council in conjunction with the Department of Tourism and the Orana Regional Tourist Association is preparing a tourist booklet covering the Coonamble Shire.
27/7/77: Steve Ginty and his do –it –yourself carpark for Coonamble ! Whilst Coonamble Shire Council has been pussyfooting around for years with the idea of establishing off street parking Steve Ginty of the Tattersalls Hotel has done something about it and bulldozed parking space for 80 vehicles at the rear of his hotel.
27/7/77:George Nott, born in Coonamble in 1908 currently managing the caravan park looks back on his career as a racehorse owner/trainer
 50 years ago— July 1957:
11/7/57: Council blitz on gates! Council resolved to send notices to all property owners with a final warning to remove ALL gates on public roads or they would be removed by council at owners cost.
11/7/57:Council announces details of the £80,000 contract to bring electricity to Coonamble
1/7/57: The Gulargambone War Memorial Hall and Mechanics Institute purchased the shop from Mr N McMahon in Bourbah street for the sum of £5,000 to be used as a public hall once renovations had been conducted.
