Text Box: Welcome to the May/June edition. The Rodeo is upon us now and as usual there is a lot happening over the weekend. Big changes this year include the change of date for the Junior Rodeo which has moved to Monday and a new major sponsor. We’ve been quite successful in gaining media support with both WIN and PRIME news running stories and footage of the event. The regional newspapers have also been fantastic with features in both the North West magazine and Dubbo Daily Liberal. For full details visit their web site here. The Federal government has increased support for the ATDP specifically for those in drought declared areas (see article at bottom of this page) and applications close on 13 July. Regional Arts Australia however is bitterly disappointed that the Federal Budget did not increase funding for the arts in regional areas Click here to see their full comments. Speaking of Arts- Council was successful at the Local Government and Shires Association Cultural Awards and Text Box: won an award for the support of Outback Arts and the staging of the Moorambilla Festival. The Mayor Cr Tim Horan accepted the award in Sydney. The 2007 Moorambilla Festival is not far away and this year council is preparing a poster and brochure as part of our support. This will be distributed to all residents and be used to attract visitors to the event. For the latest information and program visit their web site at www.moorambilla.com Congratulations to two eight two eight at Gulargambone who won the Community Idol award in Melbourne on Tuesday beating 500 other nominees. For details click here. Tourism NSW has developed a campaign to encourage people to leave Sydney and visit Regional NSW during the long weekend in September.

Have a great rodeo !
