Text Box: Rodeo Weekend set to be one of the largest yet

The HARBOUR IT Coonamble Rodeo & Campdraft gets under way tomorrow.  There are smiles around the town as this year the rain has come early and fine weather is forecast for the three days with no rain expected to fall over the weekend.  The rain during the week has made the ground nice and soft which should make for a more comfortable landing for the cowboys when they get tossed off the bulls and broncs ! Publicity Officer for the Rodeo Association, Steve Baldwin says that  “all events are still on and with the weather expected to clear on Friday afternoon there is little chance of rain interrupting the program” Registrations have been strong this year with the campdraft program one of the largest on record and there are over 100 competitors registered in the ‘Bull Ride’ alone.   The  team-roping events have also been popular  and there are nearly 300  young competitors lined up for the HEIKENS SUPA IGA Junior Rodeo on Monday.  For detailed information on the event and entertainment program go to www.coonamble.org/rodeo  or  call (0408) 824 179
