Text Box: Welcome to the September edition. The sad news story this month is of course, the Equine Influenza - a big blow to those local communities with a single race. Marthaguy Picnic Races, Coonamble and Gulargambone Gold Cups and the AQHA Super Challenge Campdraft have all been cancelled. But our spirits have been lifted by the Moorambilla Festival held last week in Coonamble which saw the town come alive with music and bought many visitors to town. Local historian Joan MacKenzie updated her booklet ‘musical Memories of Coonamble’. Click here to download a copy. MTM-FM will be holding a charity Greyhound Race meeting to raise funds for increasing their broadcast area. Text Box: The 2007 Moorambilla Festival was held in Coonamble from 14-16th September and early feedback points to a resounding success. The inspiration of former resident Michelle Leonard, the event was staged by a small army of volunteers and community groups and special mention must go to Sandra Harrison, Justine Lawler, Liz Markey and of course Michelle Leonard for all their hard work to make the event happen. A crew from Pay TV station ‘Ovation’ filmed the event for screening nationally. Council assistance included advertising, brochures and financial support for a coordinator and Cr David Taylor chaired the steering committee.
