The Tourism Development Manager will provide the secretariat, distribute a monthly newsletter and form teams and  team leaders as required for specific projects  Forthcoming projects include a Coonamble Heritage Brochure, Quambone promotional material, and a new Coonamble Shire brochure. Text Box: Help is sought to identify any new residents that have arrived in the last twelve months. This year the annual dinner will be held on 23rd February 2007 at St Pats Hall in Tooloon Street.  The volunteer committee  (this year chaired by Rotary) will soon be sending invitations and wants to make sure that all new arrivals have the opportunity to attend.  Now in its 26th year the evening is a great opportunity to meet representatives from community and social groups. 10 years ago– January 1997: 
   26th January 1997-Australia Day  celebrations held in Smith park. Mayor Tom Cullen won the ‘Billy Boiling’  competition. Citizen of the Year is Anthony Golsby for outstanding service to socially & economically disadvantaged members of community. Achievement in Sport was awarded to Lindsay Kennedy for involvement with the ABCRA.  In Gulargambone Phil Spora was citizen of the year and Andrew White was awarded achievement in sport. 
Wed-Sat at 3.30pm and 7.30pm  ‘Independence Day’ is showing at ‘Sommo’s Theatre’
20 years ago– January 1987:
Figures just released show the Coonamble Silos received 39,000 tones despite the season.
Mr Alan Newling, Station Master of Coonamble Railway Station since 1969 retires.
23/1/87-Meeting held at Gulargambone Bowling Club to look at reforming the Bourbah Polocrosse Club.
Kevin & Joan Green open Cypress Steak House & Restaurant.
President Mick Albert announces Golden Jubilee celebrations for Coonamble Bowling Club.
50 years ago— January 1957:
17/1/57: Coonamble Shire Council passed a motion of thanks to all the girls on the telephone exchanges during the recent bush fire emergency. A letter thanking the girls will go to all exchanges and post offices in the shire.
14/1/57: E.B. Stuckey, Shire Clerk encourages all members of the public to view the free local government firm “At your Service” on 18th and 19th January at the Plaza Theatre.  The film explains the role and activities of council. 
88 years ago— January 1919 (from the Coonamble Independent):
10 January 1919 “at last there arrived in Coonamble two more of our gallant soldiers, Sgt Hutchinson & Trooper Hunt. They were met at Coonamble Railway Station by Gordon Ellis, Chair of the Welcome Home Committee”
