Text Box: This year the Moorambilla festival will continue with its program of  free festival workshops in the two weeks prior on lantern making, indigenous bird sculptures, and murals for those interested, and will offer adults festival workshops on a $60 pass in Bawdy Opera, the blues, Drumming, Singing the Hallelujah chorus and other famous choral works & world music. Coonamble Shire Council provided significant operational and marketing support to the event in 2006 & 2007. At their March meeting in Gulargambone Council resolved to provide a package totaling at least $10,000 for the next three years to ensure the ongoing growth of the festival.
In 2008 the event is looking to create a regional childrens choir of 85 boys, and 85 girls . There will also be a Youth project called MAXed out for High school aged participants - many of whom have been in the project prior , and some of the boys whose voices are "on the change" who will be able to use their compositional skills in this new ensemble which will use electronic media, digital images and voice and other instruments to write and perform music around the festival theme "flight and freedom".

The regional artist in residence will be Andrew Hull from Bourke who will open the festival with a concert on the Thursday night to raise money for the regional children's choir scholarship fund and the restoration of the beautiful art deco buildings in the main street - the Plaza theatre and the Monterey café.
