The Tourism Development Manager will provide the secretariat, distribute a monthly newsletter and form teams and  team leaders as required for specific projects  Forthcoming projects include New Coonamble Pad Maps, Coonamble Heritage Brochure, Quambone promotional material, and a new Coonamble Shire brochure. 20 years ago– March/April 1988: 
   17/3/1988-Coonamble loses the direct Fokker service to Sydney operated by AIR NSW
March 1988-Tourism Commission Product Development Officer, Mr Michael Chesworth bought a great surge of energy and enthusiasm to our town last week when he was the special guest of the Coonamble 2000 Committee.  He met with committee members Ellis Ryan and John Scott, Coonamble Council and also conducted a tourism workshop
8th April-Joan Mackenzie launches ‘A Vision Splendid’
30 years ago– March/April  1968:
6th March 1968-Fire in the early hours of  Saturday morning destroys the woodwork and metalwork buildings at Coonamble High School causing $60K damage.
The Coonamble Shire is owed $132,050 for all unpaid rates, charges and fees as at 31/12/67
The Minister for Education & Science, Mr Fraser announces that construction of a telescope at an isolated location near Siding Spring.  Construction should be complete by 1974

50 years ago— March/April 1958:
31st March 1958 –Australia’s most heart warming drama ‘the Shiralee’ is screening at the Plaza Theatre
20/3/1958-Shire President Mr P.H. Cullen offered his resignation at the Quambone meeting. The Quambone Progress Association has been very unhappy with level of council support for the village especially the delay in getting electricity and sanitary facilities 
16/1/58-Unemployment grips the town as the drought continues.  An estimated 150 men have passed through Coonamble looking for any type of work whatsoever.
