Text Box: Welcome to the seventh edition of the Tourism Newsletter for 2006. This edition covers two months so is packed with information and events. Spring is upon us and there are some fantastic spring events in the next month ! Attached you’ll find a full package of information for the Moorambilla Festival which commences on Friday 15th ! The town is decked out with banners and flags and this is a rare opportunity to see and participate in a quality arts festival on our own doorstep. There will be plenty of visitors around town and I encourage everyone to have a look. Click here to visit the web site.
Gulargambone hosted a successful black-tie dinner for nearly two hundred on Saturday night to raise funds for the Gulargambone Gold Cup on 14th October. This event is part of the Country Racing Festival which includes the Marthaguy Races, Come-by Chance Races and the Coonamble Gold Cup. For full details click here.
Text Box: Anyone involved in staging or organizing events should be sure to attend the Events Training program on 25th October in Coonabarabran. The day will be run by Johnny Allen who has a wealth of experience with regional events and is co-author of the Regional Event Management Handbook. I know John, have attended his workshops and can thoroughly recommend this training as invaluable to your event. Full details click here.
I had the pleasure of working on the Central NSW Tourism stand at the Orana Caravan & 4WD show in Dubbo last weekend and one of the star attractions of the display was a 15 year old photo taken by Neville Owen of the Commercial Hotel. Many people demanded to know where it was and wanted to visit ! I’m currently finalising a spread in the Tourism NSW Heart of Country Holiday planner with Narromine, Gilgandra and Warrumbungle Shires.

Text Box: Castlereagh Lodge Motel is one of three motels in Coonamble and is the only one on the Western side of the river. The property is run by Terry & Gemma Christie who took over in December 2004. Originally from South Africa they operated a car dealership in Sydney before making the ‘tree change’ and moving to Coonamble. Since then they have made some major upgrades including updated bathrooms and beds in all rooms and an extended pool area complete with gazebo. The reception area has been remodeled. The couple Text Box: enjoy living in Coonamble and have some exciting renovations planned that will transform the motel. The motel receives a lot of business travelers and Terry has noted an increase in the demand for internet access. To accommodate that demand the Motel now offers wireless broadband internet access throughout the motel.
For more information or to contact Terry & Gemma phone: (02) 6822 1999 or email castlereaghmotel@smartchat.com.au
