Text Box: Former Coonamble Resident Sedg White has developed an excellent web site to display historic photos of Coonamble. The site is dedicated to his father Carl White and most of the photos were taken by Carl or Sedg. On the site you will find images of people, who have lived and worked around the Coonamble area. There are also other shots of various locations surrounding the Coonamble District. Some of the images on the site include a wedding reception in the Plaza Theatre 1935, Fatal Car Crash 1929 & Coonamble Showground 1940 as well as school and sporting groups.

Text Box: Welcome to the final edition of the Tourism Newsletter for 2006. Christmas is just around the corner with plenty happening around Coonamble over Summer. Be sure not to miss the annual Christmas Carnivale, late night shopping and markets this Thursday !!! full details on page 2. Details of Australia Day celebrations in Coonamble & Gulargambone are also in this newsletter along with many other events. The Xmas Lights judging in Coonamble takes place on the 19th December so be sure to have those lights on ! There is a wealth of resources available for those looking to get involved in the tourism industry. Inside I have summarised the new web site from Tourism Research Australia as well as fact sheets and support that council can provide. Coonamble Shire received significant publicity in November with the only winner at the NSW Tourism Awards from Central NSW coming from Gulargambone. I was there in Sydney at the Awards with the Chair of Central NSW Tourism, Stephen Sykes, and six Text Box: volunteers from Gulargambone . It was inspiring to see two eight two eight beat large businesses including the Rocks and Darling Harbour Visitors Centres to take out the General Tourism Services award. If you have not already done so please provide your event dates for 2007-more details on page 3 . This newsletter is sent out monthly to provide information on events and tourism projects in the shire. If you do not want to continue receiving it please contact me and you will be removed from the mailing list. Likewise if you would like to subscribe. Apologies to the Warren Advocate as we failed to acknowledge that the photo of ‘George’ last month came from that publication. The show book for the 2007 Coonamble Show is currently being finalised so if you would like to advertise please contact Carol Stanley on (02) 6822 1550 Finally, have a relaxing Xmas and I look forward to working with you in 2007!
