Text Box: Welcome to the sixth edition of the Tourism Newsletter for 2006 and thank you to all those who have subscribed in the last six months. There is so much happening in and around Coonamble each month that the biggest problem is trying to fit everything into only four pages. Inside you’ll find some photo’s from the 2006 Coonamble Rodeo & Campdraft and congratulations to the committee and all those volunteers who worked tirelessly to make the event a success. I was conducting surveys of spectators across the weekend and early results show the majority were visiting and having a great time ! The event was also a great opportunity to showcase the region and generated significant media interest! Full results from the weekend are on the web site and we won’t mention the name of a certain vice-president who got a little bit too close to the action on Sunday ! We can learn a lot from history and last week we held a function in the old Text Box: stables at the Coonamble Museum among the mounted police exhibit to launch the new Central NSW maps and the Newell Highway brochure. There are opportunities to get involved with research for the museum and more details inside. I was looking through the archives this week and it was fascinating to read about the major tourism project being planned in July 1966, full details on the back page. Judges from the Inland NSW Tourism Awards were in the Shire last week and visited two eight two eight and Wilber Farmhouse. Finalists will be announced shortly. There are some major events happening in the next few months so read on to find out how you can be involved ! Why not take the children to a good old fashioned movie night at two eight two eight in Gulargambone on Saturday 15th July .Click here for details. Have a great July and keep providing me with ideas and suggestions for how we can develop tourism in the shire!

Text Box: Local Tourism: Gulargambone Hotel
Text Box: There have been some changes made at the Gulargambone Hotel since Peter Gilmour and Gina Beck arrived back in November 2005. Formerly from Newcastle the pair have been working hard to provide more entertainment for patrons. In recent months Yabby Races, Karaoke and a country band have been on the calendar.
A fishing Club has been formed and already has over 20 members with regular fishing trips planned. Quality food is now available seven days a week for both lunch and Text Box: dinner in the separate dining room and wines are available at the bar. Parts of the original hotel on the site which burnt down in 1968 still remain at the rear of the complex. The Hotel also has accommodation with four twins and one family room available.
For more information pop into the Gulargambone Hotel and ask for Peter or Gina. Or phone: (02) 6825 1237 or email: gulargambonehotel@bigpond.com
