Text Box: The Coonamble Shire Tourism Task Force  (CSTTF) has been formed to involve community and industry in the development of tourism in the shire.   The task force is so named as unlike a traditional committee the task force will only meet when necessary to progress specific projects.  The Tourism Development Manager will provide the secretariat, distribute a monthly newsletter and form teams and  team leaders as required. Forthcoming projects in 2006 include Heritage Brochure and new Shire tourism brochure. For further information and to join call (02) 6827 1936 or email.

Text Box:  Coonamble High School is holding a training workshop for potential 'mentors' at Coonamble High School. A pilot mentoring program operated last year and has been hugely successful.  The program links students with a member of the community who assists the student to set goals and recognise their strengths.

Coonamble Shire Council and the Coonamble RSL Sub branch invite all residents to attend the dedication of the Peace Tree with Keith Payne VC & Senator Sandy McDonald.

Narrabri Art & Crafts Exhibition at the CWA Hall on 6th June drew visitors from Walgett, Lightning Ridge, Dubbo and Gulargambone.
20 years ago– June 1986
Julie Waterman of Gloucester England, 3rd Woman to sail single handedly around the World is currently staying with the Ginty family at ‘Yetta’.
Coonamble Bow Hunters stage a successful field shoot at their range 10km from Coonamble.
7-9th June 1986-Coonamble Rodeo-President John Lundholm reports near record figures of 800 competitors and 3000 spectators attended the event.  Stock for Rough riders provided by Bert Hall, Gary McPhee & Fitzsimmons Bros.
50 years ago— June 1956
Sunday 3rd June 1956-Crowds flock to a combined performance of the Coonamble & Orange Bands at the Plaza Theatre.  Over 800 people attended and hundreds more turned away.
3rd June 1956- Coonamble Footballers had their easiest victory for several years when they defeated Quambone 80-8 in the Group 14 CRFL competition at Coonabarabran Oval.  The Coonamble reserves also defeated Quambone by 30 points.
Soldiers settlement controversy .  Diggers Phil Cullen and Mick Leonard lead heated debate about appropriate soldier settlement in the Shire.
Coonamble parents are informed that Polio consent cards are now available for the Salk Anti-Polio vaccine.
