Text Box: The Coonamble Shire Tourism Task Force  (CSTTF) has been formed to involve community and industry in the development of tourism in the shire.   The task force is so named as unlike a traditional committee the task force will only meet when necessary to progress specific projects.  The Tourism Development Manager will provide the secretariat, distribute a monthly newsletter and form teams and  team leaders as required. 10 years ago– March 1996: 
Matt Nelson, Shire Economic Development Officer reports the Steeets Ahead AGM was attended by over 60.  Ian Elliot was elected Chair, Lynne Lambell, Deputy Chair and Angela Thompson Secretary/Treasurer.  Lee Parsons reported on the history of SA. 
A large crowd flocks to Aberford Street for the unveiling of the statue of John Mitchell outside the Police station, Crowd includes Mrs Minnie Pearson, his grand-daughter.
Shire General Manager, Adrian Hanrahan, asks any community groups interested in establishing a radio station to contact council
Streets Ahead launch a competition to develop a theme and logo to promote the town.
20 years ago– March 1986
Local photographer Neville Owen staged a photography exhibition of his work at Coonamble RSL to raise money for Coonamble Red Cross.
Coonamble community shocked by the sudden death of Sgt John Ford, Officer in Charge of Coonamble Police Station. Sgt Ford, 46, suffered a heart attack whilst scoring a squash game at the Coonamble Squash Centre. Rumours that the Ambulance took 45 minutes to arrive were dismissed by police.
Save the Street Trees:  Coonamble Shire Council appeals to residents to water trees adjacent to their land to prevent the town becoming desolate and unattractive.
50 years ago— March 1956
The headmaster, Mr J Stephens, announces a record school enrolment of 450 pupils
Mr W Greene, Secretary Coonamble Chamber of Commerce receives a letter from Mayor of Dubbo stating that a new Diesel Train service to Coonamble would not be a profitable undertaking.
