NSW has topped the list for visitor spending in new figures released by Tourism Research Australia this week. NSW was the lead state in Australia for both domestic and international visitor expenditure and Sydney was the top city. Representing a 3.4% increase on 2004, in the year ending December 2005 NSW received $20.2 billion in spending. This was the largest share of expenditure from domestic and international visitors (31%), followed by Queensland (26%) and Victoria (20%). Sydney was the top destination for domestic overnight ($4.5 billion) and day ($1.5 billion) visitor expenditure. NSW received the highest share of international visitor expenditure at 37% or $4.7 billion. Sydney received top position with $4.2 billion. The Coonamble Streets Ahead Committee has an exciting suite of events planned for the year. This year the committee will trial holding the ‘Bush Poets Breakfast’ within the Rodeo & Campdraft precinct at the showground pavilion. The ‘Lonely Horses’ tour comes to the region with a concert at the Quambone Racecourse on the 13th May 2006 featuring Tonchi McIntosh, Andrew Hull & Mick Daley (from the 'Re-mains') For more details click here or see the flier for the tour here. Streets Ahead was also successful with their application for NSW Regional Arts CASP funding for ‘Songs in the key of Bloke’ and all men in the region are invited to be part of this unique event. The committee next meets on 18th May 2006 at the Coonamble Bowling Club and meetings are open to all.
