Bob
and I semi retired here from our property Cooba on 22 December 2000. At that time, the front area had two narrow (18”) gardens on both side fences. The north side had bulbs, 2 roses, 2 Tom Thumb bottlebrushes. The south fence had white Plumbago which now forms a hedge with blue Agapanthus. The garden along the edge of the paving leading up to the front door had miniature roses and seaside daisies as well as a pencil pine. Out the back there were Australian Native shrubs up both sides and some roses on the back fence with some bougainvillea. There were 20 Palm trees in the garden, and not being a big fan of them, I have eradicated and now have only 8 left. Over
the past three years I have widened and developed garden beds. I have
lopped, pruned and planted. In November 2003 a ‘No Dig Garden', following
the Esther Deans principle, was established. This is the garden bed on the
right as you enter. In January 2004 the little pond and path was put in this is still a work in progress. My
all time favourite flower is the rose. I love roses, mostly pink. There are
around 100 roses in this garden at present, with many more to go in. I
would not have been able to achieve all of this without the help of my family
and good friends who have given me plants, cuttings and most
importantly encouragement, advice and praise. Directions: 12 Caswell Street Coonamble - SEE MAP |
