 The Pilliga

The "Pilliga" is a vast unusual forest, famous for its Cypress Pine and Ironbarks. State Forests of the Pilliga are managed for timber production and other multiple activities, including forest recreation. Why not explore the amazing salt caves, stop off and soak in one of the natural, therapeutic bore baths, or visit the villages that the forest houses.

The Pilliga Scrub is a 40min drive from Coonamble off the Baradine Road. Be sure to stop into the Forestry Commission in Baradine to purchase a map – the roads can be tricky to navigate through. Do not travel through the Pilliga when it has been raining unless you have a 4WD!
